5 Lies About Online Coaching Businesses (And What the Top 1% Do Instead)
Most coaches are stuck because they're following advice that sounds completely logical — but
is quietly working against them.
The top 1% of coaching / consulting businesses aren't grinding harder. They aren't posting more.
They aren't running more ads. They've simply rejected the conventional wisdom that
keeps everyone else average, and replaced it with a different operating system entirely.
In this video I break down the 5 most dangerous lies in the coaching industry, and show you side-by-side exactly what the top 1% do instead.

THE 5 LIES — AND THE TOP 1% TRUTH
Lie #1: Build an Audience First
The average coach spends years posting, hoping a following materializes before
they feel "ready" to sell. The top 1% skip the line entirely — they find 10–15
people in their niche who already have their ideal audience, offer a revenue share,
and launch in 90 days. My first launch using this model generated $96K in one week.
Lie #2: Lower Prices to Get More Clients
Discounting attracts people who prioritize price over results. Those clients
don't implement, don't get outcomes, and don't refer anyone. The top 1% charge
$3,000+ for the same program — and those clients get results, become raving fans,
and attract more high-level clients through their testimonials. If you're underpricing,
you're not being humble. You're signaling that your transformation isn't worth much.
Lie #3: Build the Perfect Offer Before Selling
The average coach invests 3–4 months building a program nobody asked for, then
spends the rest of their time trying to find an audience for it. The top 1% sell
first, build second. Sell 5 beta spots at 50% off. If people pay, you have a
business. If they don't, you just saved months of wasted work.
Lie #4: Be Everywhere Online
Mediocre content on six platforms beats no one. The top 1% master 1–2 platforms
instead — build real relationships, track what works, and optimize from there.
For the past 8 years, my focus was entirely on partner relationships, speaking,
and industry publications. I only recently added YouTube and Instagram. You don't
need every platform. You need the right ones, done well.
Lie #5: Revenue = Freedom
A business that generates $1M and requires 60 hours a week isn't success — it's
a prison you built yourself. The top 1% design freedom into their business from
day one: systems, automation, delegation, and clear non-negotiables about what
they will and won't do. Revenue follows. Freedom doesn't come after you earn enough.
It comes when you build it in from the start.
